When we woke up on Saturday it was raining, even though the weather forecast said rain in the evening, but well… I even considered going skating with my strained muscle – I know, it's not a good idea at all, but that's me. I always have to try first before I give up. After I had breakfast and did the laundry we went to the mall. My boyfriend wanted to buy an XBOX for when he's away (he has to go away for 2 weeks for work) and get a haircut. I had a look for a new running shirt, but didn't really find anything I liked. I also had a look for a calendar of 2010 because I need one where I can write things on, one of those family planners, but didn't find that either. It was already 12:20 and I was starving so we went home and had lunch. Of course my boyfriend had to try the XBOX and I was just on the internet until we got ready for training at 2:15pm. We got there just before 3pm and got ready for skating. I didn't know if I'll be able to skate but I wanted to try anyway. We started the warm-up and I felt pretty good, my strained muscle didn't even hurt. After the warm-up we did a 10km and my boyfriend, Mark and me skated together and took turns leading. In one corner I slipped and stumbled pretty bad but at least I didn't fall or strain my muscle even more. The pace didn't feel as fast as normally and when we were finished I felt like I could have gone faster or done more laps so that was finally a training where I felt really good again. The cool-down was a bit short as I started to get really cold, so I got changed, did stretches and we went home. After training my strained muscle felt a lot better than before, so skating actually helped. We had yummy sweet and sour rice and watched a movie on tv and then went to bed.
The second day of the weekend was 6 degrees cold and it was raining the whole day. While my boyfriend was happy about that (it meant that he could play XBOX and Cycling Manager all day) I wasn't too happy about it because I would have liked to go for a walk or something. We went food shopping in the morning and were on the internet. For lunch we had pancakes, I was sitting at the table eating yummy pancakes and looking at the rain outside… I just loved it. In the afternoon I finished putting together my training schedule, watched tv, relaxed, did my stretches and helped my boyfriend pack. So all in all it was a pretty boring day.
I'm so looking forward to starting training again, even though I'm sure that after a couple of weeks I'll feel like I need a break again, but well… I'll be fine :).
